Josh Berry Starts a Legacy in 2027. Full-Time in the No. 42

Just a short time ago, Josh Berry was told that he would not be returning to the Wood Brothers Racing No. 21 Ford Mustang Dark Horse for the 2027 season. We have all been waiting to find his landing spot. Back to JRM? RCR? Well, we didn’t hear until last week that John Hunter Nemechek wouldn’t be returning to his car at Legacy Motor Club.

From that day on, I think we all assumed that Berry would be choice number one for the No. 42 Toyota Camry XSE for next season. Berry has been on a roll over the last few weekends. 6 Top 10s in a row, a complete turnaround from the abysmal early part of the season. But Tuesday afternoon, we got the official word.

Josh Berry will make his start with Legacy Motor Club in the 42 car for 2027. The announcement doesn’t mention contract length or sponsorship. We can assume that many, if not most, LMC sponsors will be on board. Berry will join seasoned veteran Erik Jones and fellow newcomer Riley Herbst at Legacy.
