With rain plaguing the New Hampshire Motor Speedway all weekend long, it is already hindered operations. With Xfinity qualifying rained out, we now have Cup qualifying rained out. So, without runs being made, NASCAR has set the starting lineup using their performance metric.
This is the first time this season that qualifying has been canceled. That exact amount of time is 392 days. 392 days since qualifying has been cancelled for the Cup Series. I guess this backs the argument of the (not so funny) joke, “If you are in a drought, hold a NASCAR race.”
Based on NASCAR’s performance metric, Chase Elliott will start on the Pole at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Alongside him on the front row will be his buddy and most recent race winner, Ryan Blaney.
